Supporting local makers since 2019
Fueled by collaboration and community. We believe in the power of community and the impact it can have on small businesses.
By fostering an inclusive environment, we enable artists to explore their creativity, showcase their unique creations, and establish meaningful relationships with fellow makers and a broader audience. Our makers have has the chance to partner with large wholesale clients like REI stores, they've gained the experience to open their own retail shops, expand their customer base to double their revenue and so much more.
Over the last five years, we have witnessed the incredible growth and success stories of countless small businesses that have flourished under our guidance and support. Our passion for uplifting local artisans only grows stronger, as we continue to provide resources, networking opportunities, and a platform for showcasing their remarkable talents.

Our platform creates
opportunities for exposure, growth, and connection of local makers and artists. Together, we are creating a thriving ecosystem where dreams become reality, where artisans find the support they need to turn their passion into sustainable businesses, and where the community celebrates the beauty of craftsmanship and creativity.

Meet the Owner
DANIELLE HAWKS
The Makers of Maryland is maker made, maker ran, and maker owned. I started in this beautiful community as a maker myself. My product based business, Urban Pulse, launched a display in the Makers pop-up shop in 2021 and I immediately fell in love.
From helping to build the shops, meeting with makers to chat about wholesale and website building, and jumping in behind the scenes to do the email marketing - over the last three years my love for this community grew so strong that in March of 2024, I took over ownership of the Makers of Maryland.
My background in retail management, visual merchandising and building Urban Pulse over the last 10 years gave me the experience to dive in headfirst to continue building this community.
I couldn't be happier with the way we ended my first year as owner of this amazing company. We supported 334 makers, paid out $74,200 out to makers, and sold 6,545 maker products in store. I can't wait to show you what I have planned for 2025!

Our Founder Story
Stephanie's journey began in 2018 when she recognized the need for community within the group of local makers she was connecting with online. In 2019, she opened the very first Makers of Maryland holiday pop-up shop at The Avenue at White Marsh.
For five years Stephanie dedicated herself to building a community that would serve as a vibrant hub for artisans, makers, and creatives. Because of Stephanie's passion, the Makers of Maryland has opened pop-up shops each year since, we've hosted events across local breweries and restaurants and created endless collaboration opportunities for local businesses.
In March of 2024, Stephanie decided to take a step back from the Makers of Maryland to pursue other ventures and transferred ownership over to long time maker, Danielle Hawks.
Join us on this exciting journey of empowerment and progression. Together, we can make a difference and shape a brighter future for small businesses in Maryland and beyond.
